Here's an excerpt of an email I sent home later:

I left Mae Sariang after getting my visa extended by 30 days at the immigration office. A task that took about 3 days simply because of beauracracy.

Fish food frenzy

From there I went north and spent a night in Mae Hong Son, which was quite pleasant. They have a large pond in the SE corner of town where a woman sells fish-food. I'm assuming there must be some bylaw against fishing in the pond because when you throw the food into the pond it's like feeding piranha, the water froths and the occasional fish is actually ejected and sent skipping by the mobs of other fish.
