The Thai visa I'd picked up in Mae Sot was going to run out four days before my flight back to Vancouver so I crossed the Mekong river into Laos to get another. I could have gotten my visa extended, but I wanted to see Savannahkhet anyways. I was feeling very melancholy about my impending departure and spent a lot of time on the roof of my hotel drinking Beer Lao and staring off into space.
